BAY COLONY CLUB - "GRATUITY" MYSTERY DESTINATION


We believe that the hard working employees of Bay Colony Club certainly deserve holiday bonuses.  

Before writing a check however, it would be nice to know who gets a bonus and how the amount for each employee is calculated.

Two email requests for this information were addressed to our manager and remain unanswered.

There was, at one time, a formula calculated based on length of service and base pay.  I believe that bonuses were only distributed to hourly employees.  While we don't have the exact details, this seemed a fair way to distribute the money.

We are reluctant to contribute to the bonus fund unless detailed information on its distribution is made available first.  Sort of like contributing to a charity which may be using most of the money for administrative costs......  What are your thoughts on this? Posted by Picasa

BAY COLONY CLUB NOV 15, 2011 BOD MEETING - SYNOPSIS


Special Meeting of the Membership:  45 residents attending.  Total votes on reserves: 385;  Voting against: 374;  Voting for 11  Reserves waived for 2012.  Special meeting adjourned 7:04.

Board Members Attending: Paul Barros, Bill Brady, Joyous Burkart, Bud Lauer, Malachy Smith

Board Members Absent: Danielle Harrell Recovering from hip surgery)

Miscellaneous Other Attendees: Coleen, BCC Manager

BCC Owners Attendees: 45 (est.)

November 2010 Minutes: Reading waived and minutes unanimously approved.

2012 Budget: Brady’s proposed 2012 budget called for quarterly maintenance payments of $973.  Discussion on legal fees being budgeted being too high. 
Motion made to reduce seawall budget from $90,000 to $40,000 and do only 100 feet of canal seawall repair.  Yes: Barros, Burkart, Lauer, Malachy; No: Brady.  Motion passed.
Quarterly maintenance payments for 2012 to be $954

NOTES:  Anyone know what the increase in total seawall costs will be by requiring the barge and crane to return again?  How does that compare with the $19 a quarter shaved from 2012 maintenance?

BAY COLONY CLUB OCT 20, 2011 BOD MEETING - SYNOPSIS

Board Members Attending: Paul Barros, Joyous Burkart, Bud Lauer, Malachy Smith

Board Members Absent: Bill Brady, Danielle Harrell (Hip Surgery)

BCC Owners Attendees: 3  7 (est.)


Approve Minutes:  August 15 minutes read.  Approved unanimously.

Presidents Message:  In Treasurer's absence there would be no Treasurer's Report.  After consultation with BCC attorneys Lauer called for volunteers for a "Financial Investigatory Committee".

Manager's Report:  See BCC official web site.

Unfinished Business:
Proposed Budget- Due to absence of Treasurer no discussion of budget proposed was held.  Audience was asked for input on the proposal


New Business:  
Rec 4 Roof Replacement - Additional bids less than Deck-Tite's $6,279 to be considered.  Unanimously approved
Engineering Proposal for Pool Drains -  Engineering services, not tied to pool repair companies will be solicited to provide drawings.  Cost not to exceed $5,200.  Yes: Burkart, Lauer, Smith  No: Barros   Motion passed.
Security Contract - An out-source security firm will be selected from among the four bids received.  Yes: Barros, Lauer, Smith  No: Burkart  Motion passed.

Meeting adjourned at 7:10.

Note:  What's with our Treasurer?  He can't make it to the board meetings or even call in, and is the only BOD member with access to info from the bank.  However, he is apparently working hard to replace our accounting firm.  Anybody know what's up with this?

BAY COLONY CLUB CONDO - SOME QUESTIONS

Why:
  1. Were all BCC's committees disbanded?
  2. Have there been no Financial Reports?
  3. Isn't the BCC official web site providing links to Financial Reports, minutes of BOD meetings, etc?
  4. Are owners' email addresses (obtained at great effort and expense) not being used by the office to distribute agendas, financial reports, etc.?
  5. Haven't updated Rules & Regulations been printed and released?
  6. Are BCC owners putting up with another stealth board?

BAY COLONY CLUB CONDO - BLOG COMMENTS

The comments many blog readers have been making to blog articles have been straying further and further from the topic of the articles.   Some anonymous contributors have used the blog comments feature to publish personal attacks on other BCC owners while ignoring the topic of the blog article.  Totally unsubstantiated allegations of illegal kickbacks, arson and various immoral and unlikely acts have been received.

The blog is maintained as an informational source for readers and a platform for publishing concerns and complaints about BCC and BCC's operation.  Comments which are anonymous or use an alias and contain personal attacks or unsubstantiated allegations will no longer be published.

If you want to malign a neighbor or accuse somebody of a crime, sign it with your name.

BAY COLONY CLUB CONDO VS HURRICANE IRENE

Well, here we are, early in the hurricane season and square in the sights of Irene, a potential category 4.  Perhaps this and prior Boards of Directors should start explanations now about why they wasted time on trivia and personal agendas and vendettas instead of replacing our rusted out roof edge fasteners? 

Come on guys, there has to be some lame excuse for spending time on firing people for not adequately kissing the hem of your robes or the deep concern and time spent deciding exactly where and when the Bay Colony Club mutts poop?  Exactly what size should those garden bird houses be?

Or maybe they'd all be better off going into hiding?

AND ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST - SHEILA FIRED

In the twenty plus years your blogger has lived in Bay Colony Club, the office personnel has come and gone with bewildering rapidity.  Perhaps some blog readers can help us out here:
  1. Why can't Bay Colony Club attract and hold on to competent office help?
  2. Are we looking at anoher law suit resulting from this termination?
  3. If directors' liability insurance won't defend an illegal action, who pays?
  4. Was this action justified and reasonable?  
  5. What's the general consensus among the board and owners?

Let's have some (civil) comments and discussion on this please.  Thanks for speaking up.
